The NFL’s Dallas Cowboys are a franchise steeped in tradition and championship trophies. With five Super Bowl wins, eight NFC championships, 29 Hall of Fame inductees, an extraordinary 34 playoff appearances, and the most valuable sports brand on the planet, the Dallas Cowboys put on a show every time they take the field.
With a fan base stretching from coast to coast, the Cowboys have earned the moniker “America’s Team” while playing in two stadiums since 1971 with holes in their roofs “so God can watch His favorite team play.”
Starting in 1966, the Dallas Cowboys rattled off an unmatched streak of 20 consecutive winning seasons under legendary head coach Tom Landry – the third-winningest coach in NFL history (270 victories). In those two incredible decades, the Cowboys won 13 division championships, five NFC championships, and two Super Bowl championships. These glory days featured Hall of Famers Roger Staubach, Tony Dorsett, and Bob Lilly.
Soon after current owner Jerry Jones bought the team in 1989, the Dallas Cowboys reprised the franchise’s winning standard. “America’s Team” became the “Team of the Nineties”, a dynasty marked by three Super Bowl championships in the decade and a new generation of Hall of Fame players, including Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin, and the NFL’s all-time leading rusher, Emmitt Smith.
The Dallas Cowboys have a total of 29 players, coaches, and executives enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. The team does not officially retire jersey numbers but has inducted 22 Cowboys into the franchise’s esteemed Ring of Honor.
The Dallas Cowboys blue star is one of the most iconic and recognized logos in world sport, representing a brand that transcends the field of play. The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders are as famous as the football team. The franchise is based at The Star – a 91-acre development in Frisco, Texas that features retail shops, restaurants, a hotel, and sports medicine center – with all Cowboys home games played at spectacular AT&T Stadium (which books a full calendar of events beyond NFL football). In 2020, Forbes named the Dallas Cowboys the most valuable sports team in the entire world with an estimated worth of $5.5 billion.
In the immortal words of former head coach Jimmy Johnson, “How 'bout them Cowboys!”
