Alabama is one of the favorites to win the national championship this year, which is basically the same storyline as any other year.
Under legendary coach Nick Saban, the Crimson Tide have won it all six times in the last dozen seasons. Winning every week and every year is an expectation in Tuscaloosa, as Saban’s teams have posted a double-digit win total each of the last 13 seasons in a row, including a perfect record in 2020. The Crimson Tide finished last year 13-0, disposing of Ohio State 52-24 in the national title game.
While stars like Heisman winner DeVonta Smith, quarterback Mac Jones, and top-10 picks Jaylen Waddle and Patrick Surtain II are gone (in all, Alabama produced a record-tying six first-round NFL draft choices!), the Tide should just reload and keep right on rolling.
The 2021 regular season begins with a neutral-site game against Miami September 4, with the home opener seven days later against Mercer. SEC action kicks off for ‘Bama on September 18 with a trip to the Swamp to play the Florida Gators. There are seven home games at Bryant-Denny Stadium, including four straight between October 23 and November 20.
The most highly anticipated home game of the year is a November 6 date with LSU, while the highlight of any season’s schedule is the traditional Iron Bowl in the regular season’s final weekend. This year’s edition of the rivalry game takes place at Auburn on Saturday, November 27.
