LSU had been to a bowl game every season this millennium…until 2020.
With star quarterback Joe Burrow off to the NFL, the Tigers slipped to a 5-5 record only a year after winning the College Football Playoff and ultimately sat out the postseason with a self-imposed bowl ban.
As the calendar turns to 2021, LSU looks to bounce back and regain its place among the nation’s elite. Coach Ed Orgeron enters his fifth full season at the helm in Death Valley, and the Tigers fully expect to once again be a factor in the SEC race, with sights set on the conference title game (to be played December 4 in Atlanta).
The action kicks off September 4 with a cross-country trip to face UCLA at the famous Rose Bowl Stadium. LSU’s home opener at Tiger Stadium comes seven days later against McNeese State, an FCS program. The Tigers will host seven games in Baton Rouge this season, including a showdown with the Florida Gators October 16 and a November 27 date against Texas A&M to end the regular season.
One of the biggest games of the year is slated for Saturday, November 6 when the Tigers travel to Tuscaloosa to battle the reigning national champion Alabama Crimson Tide. ‘Bama has captured nine of the last ten meetings between the two schools.
